Carved from New Zealand Kokopu (pounamu), his large, bound Hei Matau pendant is a treasured piece of traditional craftsmanship. The pendant showcases a deep green tone with delicate lighter speckles, inspired by the native Kokopu trout. The carved notches reflect traditional Māori carving, historically symbolising whakapapa (genealogy) and the passing of wisdom between generations. Today, these notches may also represent whānau members or loved ones, adding personal meaning to each pendant.
The Hei Matau symbolises a profound connection to the sea, offering protection, good fortune, and safe passage. Its wearer is respected as a provider and protector, embodying determination and success. Paired with an adjustable, handwoven brown cord, it comes presented in an eco-friendly box with meaning and care cards.

Durability: While pounamu (greenstone) is celebrated for its robustness, its dense nature makes it vulnerable to shock. Handle with care to maintain its integrity.
Protection: Avoid placing or wearing your pounamu on hard surfaces where it might get chipped.
Wear Often: Wear your pounamu frequently to enhance its shine with your natural skin oils. The cord is durable but will naturally wear over time.
Cleaning: Simply use a soft, damp cloth and mild soap for your pounamu. Beeswax or coconut oil can also be applied to moisturise the stone. Avoid harsh chemicals, as they may harm its surface.
